What's this role?

The Assistant Director, Strategic Communications directs and implements Northwestern Mutual's communications strategy in support of Northwestern Mutual's strategic priorities and client business objectives. In this role you will partner with the client group and Communications department to create and manage the execution of strategies that ensure a high awareness and understanding of intended audience.

  • Prioritizes messages and methods/channels/technologies for delivering them, and oversees tracking of success metrics. 
  • Develops executive-level communication. 
  • Drives proactive, rapid response to time-sensitive issues. Coordinates logistics and programs for key meetings. 
  • Go to person and subject matter expert in the discipline of communications.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and 6-8 years of experience in professional corporate communications, organizational communications, integrated communications and/or public relations in corporate or agency setting. 
  • Ability to listen to, engage, and influence clients; synthesize and relate complex information; analyze communications problems and opportunities; and develop and implement integrated communications strategies. 
  • Ability to lead and influence a team in a complex structure.
