The Assistant Editorial Director is responsible for producing all content for Chicago Style Weddings and Atlanta Style Weddings print magazines and web sites (blogs). This includes content planning, writer assignments, photo shoot coordination, photography selection, editing, proofing, securing permissions, budgeting, printer communications and sales support. This position works with the sales managers of CSW and ASW to ensure advertising promises are kept and a balance of vendors is used. This position also works with the Art Director to create the magazine layout and meet publishing deadlines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan a full issue and supplemental issue for both Chicago Style Weddings and Atlanta Style Weddings each year, including fashion shoot, features, departments and real weddings.
  • Create content and messaging for the web site and e-newsletters and offer direction and support to Social Media Manager.
  • Manage distribution: work with circulation consultant to meet deadlines for shipment of magazines to circulation warehouses, analyze reports of circulation metrics, ship free magazines out weekly to vendors and bridal shows depending on needs, monitor quantities and cover versions.
  • Work with Regional Publisher on bridal show partnerships and fulfill sponsorship expectations; some travel to bridal shows may be required.
  • 2-4 years in an editorial field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing or related field.
  • Knowledge of Wordpress, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you will be proofing on a weekly basis.
  • Knowledge of the wedding industry, fashion and beauty.
  • Highly organized with ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal management input.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity and new ideas are a plus.
