We are a full-service advertising agency born and raised in Austin, Texas. Our story goes a little something like this.

In 1971 a group of friends graduated from The University of Texas (Hook ’em) and loved this city so much, they didn’t want to leave. So they did the most logical thing — they started an advertising agency. Today we are over 500 people strong, representing some of the most respected brands out there. Thanks, Roy, Judy, Steve and Tim for not choosing to open a bank 40 years ago. Wearing a tie every day would kind of suck.

We believe you don’t have to be arrogant or egotistical to create great work. We’re all in this together, so let’s have some fun.

At GSD&M, the Assistant Media Planner aids in the development of media plan recommendations through available research and tools, working cross-functionally across all channels including: print, out of home, digital, and broadcast.

The Position:

  • Assist Media Planners and Supervisors by creating and maintaining support elements such as: flowcharts, budget reports, plan summaries, status reports and buy specifications
  • Provide assistance on planning functions including target audience development, competitive analysis, plan implementation/buying, and on-going digital reporting
  • Manage client reporting for digital media elements, including current performance, optimization opportunities, competitive tracking, and post buys
  • Pull stats from various data sources and format for analysis
  • Provide initial analysis and recommendations for optimizations
  • Works closely with Media Coordinator and Billing Manager to track and verify billing documentation and solve billing discrepancies
  • Begin to develop knowledge of media math, media research tools and software, as well as a general understanding of today’s changing media marketplace
  • Works with cross-department team coordinating with Account Service and Production to implement media buys
  • Establish relationships with vendors, and become knowledgeable on their offerings and insights

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Comfort and ability to think quantitatively, with sensitivity to nuances in data 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Proven analytical and organizational skills 
  • Strong written and oral communication, comfortable contributing in group meetings 
  • Basic understanding of agency personality, size, structure, function
