Sportsman’s Guide has an outstanding opportunity to get your foot in the door in the creative field as an Associate Copywriter. You’ll ride alongside a team of talented writers and designers as they craft industry-best creative for web and print. In this role, you’ll be counted on to create concise, accurate product descriptions for web and print that help move the sales needle. Plus, you’ll have opportunities to write for emails, web assets, our blog and more. Your words and your editing skills will become powerful tools as we charge forward into an exciting time of growth and opportunity at SG. And, you’ll work with great people who love coming to work every day.The ideal candidate will have an educational background in word nerdery, some experience and/or writing samples that show us you’re for real, a positive, team-oriented attitude, and a love for the outdoors.   • Conceptualizing and writing product detail descriptions, email blasts, web assets, blog content and other assignments that are accurate, effective, concise and adhere to Advertising and Marketing guidelines and acceptable legal criteria. 
  • Proofreading/editing of web copy and other assets as needed for Creative department and other stakeholders 
  • Monitoring and completing copy correction requests from Merchandising, Design and Products departments 
  • Responding to copy-related requests from UX, Customer Service Creating and managing blog content using WordPress 
  • Serving as liaison between SG and freelance contributors, including editing/posting new content, seeking out and engaging potential new contributors 
  • Serving as liaison between SG and 3 party Amazon content optimization partner, including reviewing/editing/approving content 
  • Maintaining SG service mark database 
  • Willingness and ability to become a subject matter expert regarding products and brands for assigned categories 
  • Communicating with Merchandising partners to obtain and verify product information as needed 
  • Willingness and ability to do independent research as needed to tell the most accurate, effective product stories 
  • Effective prioritization and consistent completion of assignments according to project deadline. 
  • Adherence to style and content guidelines for the SG brand, website, emails and print collateral 
  • Demonstrating a high degree of professionalism, consistency, attention to detail and positive, team-oriented spirit 
  • Being receptive to feedback and willing to learn, grow and revise copy as needed or requested.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, advertising or other related field. 
  • Related work experience, including writing for e-commerce websites, email blasts, print collateral/catalogs, UX, and corporate communications. 
  • High degree of skill in grammar, punctuation, spelling and direct marketing language. 
  • Familiarity with journalism, advertising and marketing principles. 
  • AP style knowledge a plus. 
  • Familiarity and efficiency in WordPress. 
  • Good organizational and planning skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, company personnel and others. 
  • Interest and familiarity with outdoor pursuits and recreation
