The Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events is responsible for a host of duties necessary in effectively supporting the planning of multiple strategic events targeted to alumni and donors of the Quinlan School of Business to increase the number of alumni engaged.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements alumni engagement strategy for the Quinlan School of Business. This includes alumni volunteer management, event and program planning and development, marketing, and collaboration with the Dean and Assistant Deans, faculty, Advancement staff, and other internal/external partners.
  • Leads the execution of events school-wide aimed at alumni engagement and recognition throughout the year; includes, but is not limited to corporate partnership events, quarterly alumni engagement events, alumni mentorship programming, fundraising dinners, Dean’s lunch series, stewardship events, regional and suburban engagement events, etc.
  • Works closely with the Quinlan School of Business, Communications Director and Director of Business Career Services and staff to build and connect our alumni network.
  • Collaborates with Annual Fund and Advancement colleagues to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Recruits and manages reunion class committees in collaboration with Advancement colleagues.
  • Helps review and approve new programs presented by faculty and staff (events, marketing) and establishes programs and policies that support the mission of Alumni Relations and generate goodwill for Loyola University Chicago Quinlan School of Business. Travels and attends events across the country as needed.
  • Serves as liaison with central Alumni Relations. Coordinates with regional Directors of Development and Planned & Major Gift officers to plan Quinlan School of Business events outside the Chicago area.
  • Provides direction, oversight, and new concepts for multiple local and national events designed to engage alumni and steward donors. Plans and facilitates events outside of Chicago for the Dean and Assistant Dean of Advancement for the Quinlan School of Business; this includes arranging travel plans, venues and services.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of four years of experience in alumni relations, public relations, communications or related field required. 
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Event planning and program development experience are essential.
  • Public speaking and written communication skills are very important.
  • Must have an understanding of philanthropy and donor engagement and how Alumni Relations supports Development.
  • Must possess or develop a strong working knowledge of Loyola University Chicago and its culture, people, programs, and involvement opportunities.
  • Must have a strong ability to initiate projects and activities and be effective in working as a member of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work frequent evenings, weekends and travel outside of Chicago as needed.
