Position Summary:

Under the direction of the VP of Philanthropy, the Associate Director of Development cultivates and solicits philanthropic support for BRI priorities by establishing and developing relationships and prospects in SE Wisconsin. The position requires exceptional relationship-building, writing and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with researchers, administrators and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes an annual fundraising work plan with cultivation and solicitation steps for portfolio prospects 
  • Manages a portfolio of approximately 75 prospects who have capacity to make gifts of $1,000 to $5,000 
  • Personally meets with prospects, communicates effectively regarding research taking place at BRI, completes cultivation and solicitation strategies. 
  • Organizes and prepares for visits to/from benefactors; includes appropriate colleagues and researchers 
  • Makes personal gift solicitations designed for the interests and capabilities of the donor. 
  • Strategically cultivates and solicits gift commitments, planned giving commitments, annual gifts 
  • Travels to meet with assigned prospects as needed 
  • Maintains appropriate contact with prospects and records substantive information in Raiser’s Edge prospect management system 
  • Attends relevant BRI events and meetings, some during the evenings and weekends; represents the BRI to external constituents 
  • Supports other members of the Philanthropy team and performs other related duties as assigned or as needed 
  • Maintains an understanding and knowledge of fundraising techniques 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

Experience:

  • 4-6 years of successful fundraising experience with demonstrated understanding and knowledge of fundraising techniques required 
  • 4-6 years of successful personal solicitation experience required 
  • Proven success in creating and executing work plans required 
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge constituent database preferred
