The Associate Manager, Brand & Field Communications will support brand marketing across Hyatt’s full portfolio of brands – with earned media efforts, including newsroom program and media relations strategy; creation, implementation of brand communication campaigns and activations; work closely with consumer PR agencies and field comms team to secure hotel proof points for newsroom strategy. This position is also responsible for supporting Americas field communications including advising and guiding hotels on communications strategies and tactics, including media material development, media outreach, media/influencer visits, filming requests, and any additional media relations tactics.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Brand Communications, with a dotted line to the Senior Manager, Field & Crisis Communications Americas, the individual in this position will sit on the Field & Brand Communications team, be a key member of the Global Communications team, and a trusted partner for the brand marketing, field marketing and field operations teams.

This position will provide strategic communication counsel to business partners and support the business with expert service; work in close collaboration across a variety of projects with multiple internal teams, including Brand, Social Media, Commercial Services, Field Marketing, Field Operations, Legal, Finance etc. for communications needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic brand communications Newsroom efforts/storytelling to drive awareness and preference for Hyatt and sub-brands across strategic company priorities and execute media relations strategies to achieve measurable results. 
  • Support integrated brand communications and news engine planning, messaging and initiatives that driving awareness and preference for Hyatt brands, with a focus on priority brands, hotels, business segments and brand commercial offers. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media. 
  • Work with Field Communications and agencies to help pitch most appropriate brand/hotel news and programming, respond to media inquiries, pitch brand / hotel news as necessary, stay ahead of and share out relevant consumer hospitality and media industry news and trends to Communications team. 
  • Field incoming leads from media or brand PR agencies; assist Field Communications in management and reply with hotel teams to confirm / gather content for traditional and social media opportunity purposes. Leverage internal communications channels (Hyattconnect, Hyatt check-in, Global Weekly Communication, etc.) and hotel-level relationships to drive content from field to corporate level for proactive, reactive pitching. 
  • Serve as News Engine liaison between regional and global communication teams, brand communication teams, and PR agencies on brand news and other communication needs. 
  • Work closely with multiple functions including Investor Relations, Legal, Human Resources and Operations to make sure internal and external messages are aligned, and the impact on all audiences is considered while safeguarding the company's reputation. 
  • Support development, editing, review, approvals, distribution of various press materials, including but not limited to: Press releases, messaging documents, bios and executive briefing books for hotel and corporate media and speaking opportunities. 
  • Distribution of press releases via Hyatt Newsroom and Business Wire for Field/Brand Communications team. 
  • LinkedIn content for Global Development Page in conjunction with press announcements. 
  • Support field communications tactics to assist Americas full service and select service hotels with day-to-day communications strategic and tactical needs. 
  • Identify compelling media relations opportunities (proactive and reactive) and ensure that local/regional and corporate/brand messages reinforce and leverage each other. 
  • Support select service hotel openings, utilizing communications milestone toolkit with hotels, reviewing, routing for internal approvals all press materials, providing strategic counsel to hotels to support openings. 
  • Review and route hotels’ press materials (pre-opening / operating) for internal approvals. 
  • Maximize collaboration opportunities with Social Media and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent and adaptable messaging and programming.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of agency or in-house communications experience, with a focus on consumer brand communications and media relations. 
  • Experience in global communications a plus. 
  • Experience with on-property communications a plus. 
  • Agency media relations management a plus. 
  • Proactive, creative, strategic thinker with excellent listening, presentation and communication skills. 
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to act with confidence in dealing with various levels and functions. 
  • Effective decision maker who is able to be flexible and possess strong work ethic and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent writer, editor, strong media contacts/media relations experience experienced pitcher, results oriented. 
  • Experience producing a wide range of press materials and content (press releases, key messaging, social content, scripts, speeches, etc.). 
  • High level of passion for communications, quality work, and team building. 
  • Strong empathetic orientation and high level of personal commitment/caring. 
  • Unquestionable integrity. 
  • High level of business acumen. 
  • Travel/tourism/hospitality experience a strong plus. 
  • Skilled at project management, time management, communicating across various functions and levels.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, or communications or similar degree

Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job:

  • Proficient, solid working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Comments and Requirements:
