This Opportunity:

Heitman’s Chicago office is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Marketing & Communications (the “AVP”). The AVP will report to the Senior Vice President, Director of Global Marketing & Communications and will play an integral role to advance our corporate brand and reputation in ways that promotes Heitman’s business, values, and mission. This role will drive the development and execution of external and internal marketing and communications. Levers will include public relations, social media, digital marketing, website, events, advertising, sponsorship, executive communications, and content creation.

The responsibilities of the AVP, Marketing & Communications include, but are not limited to:

Corporate Communications

  • Partner to design and deliver strategic external and internal communications to align with and advance Heitman’s business objectives and enhance its corporate reputation; amplify strategic messaging and ensure appropriate cadence around the globe.
  • Create and disseminate accurate, compelling, and timely external and internal communications.
  • Partner to curate executive communications for both internal and external audiences, leveraging multiple formats.

Public Relations and Social Media

  • Collaborate with global business leaders and PR firm to enhance the company’s voice, presence, and strategic messaging. Craft and deliver press releases and associated LinkedIn posts.
  • Partner to lead the strategy, growth, and management of Heitman’s social media presence on LinkedIn.
  • Curate LinkedIn content strategy to ensure appropriate cadence, messaging, and design to reflect Heitman brand and reputation. Build follower growth and engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the firm’s brand globally.

Advertising, Sponsorship, Select Awards

  • Plan and execute global advertising media strategy, including in which media to advertise, along with cadence and placement. Lead and coordinate deployment.
  • Plan and secure sponsorship and speaking (earned and paid) opportunities as appropriate around the globe.
  • Identify and craft submissions for select awards that build reputation and brand.

Steward the Heitman Brand

  • Build and maintain brand integrity across marketing and communications initiatives. Reflect the brand positioning consistently in all elements of marketing and communications endeavors.
  • Partner to deliver programs that increase brand awareness, reputation, and engagement.
  • Collaborate to produce timely external content materials and thought leadership. Manage content development process from ideation to deployment.
  • Partner to build and maintain digital marketing initiatives, including client email marketing as well as Heitman’s website.

We are seeking individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • BA in Communications, Journalism, Marketing 
  • 7-10 years of relevant and progressive experience 
  • Financial Services, Real Estate, Professional Services experience preferred 
  • Fluent in AP style – excellent writer with ability to synthesize complex ideas to deliver key messaging and communications 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and communications best practices and current trends 
  • Must be a self-starter, with excellent planning, execution, and project management skills 
  • Understanding and ability to track and report key KPIs, including LinkedIn metrics, email (Pardot), and website analytics
