OVERVIEW:

Help us build enduring relationships between people and our food by inspiring bold, creative design. Make creativity our greatest competitive advantage through thought leadership & orchestration of best in class design and best practices across brands.

Lead and support package design from strategic brief development through execution by providing expertise and direction across internal clients, cross functional team members and external design partners.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and articulate the Design strategy for priority brands at General Mills 
  • Understand and deploy brand foundation elements (e.g. Purpose, Value, Assets, Traits) 
  • Translate consumer insights into actionable design execution 
  • Partner with internal teams and agencies to transform business strategy into unique and ownable visual identity systems and brand identity assets 
  • Be able to influence and present to help others see the vision for where a brand should go – particularly to levels higher than their own (Director, VP-level) 
  • Partner with other team experts – specifically Brand Strategy, Brand Experience Orchestration to ensure brand is expressed according to the strategy 
  • Potential to manage planners, coach them and contribute to their career growth 
  • Be a leader for advancing design culture within the organization 
  • Be the agitator, the expert 
  • Uphold design best practices and design principles 
  • Discover and share trends, external examples and case studies 
  • Translate brand strategy to package design strategy 
  • Author effective briefs 
  • Assign and kickoff work with the right partners depending on design needs, scope and budget 
  • Estimate and optimize project budgets for agency work 
  • Create and manage project timetables and deliverables 
  • Effectively lead creative evaluation conversations and exercises 
  • Lead brand guide development and maintenance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS, BA, or BFA in design or related field 
  • 5+ years experience in design management or related field 
  • Foundation of brand strategy and design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Self-starter comfortable working in ambiguity and the unknown 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and guidance 
  • Detailed-oriented and process-driven 
  • Expertise using design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) 
  • Expertise using presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint, Keynote) 
  • Independent strategic thinker with demonstrated commitment to his/her ideas 
  • Superior project leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to multi-task, build strong relationships, set priorities and influence others to achieve results 
  • Passionate, design-savvy professional will be able to quickly grasp business issues and solve problems 
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 
  • Build consensus across a diverse group through strategic leadership
