Our 2021 Summer Internship Program provides real-world experience and an opportunity to build expertise and problem-solving capabilities.We offer a unique perspective into the world of food manufacturing with a maximum 12-week paid internship in our Wasa brand internship in Northbrook, IL. As a key player on the Wasa Brand Team, the Marketing summer intern Intern will have the opportunity to manage and provide recommendations on potential ways to grow the Wasa business (ie new categories, eCommerce), etc.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic – Assess the strategic relevance for potential new categories for Wasa to enter and look at the following: target demographics, channels, competitive landscape, and future opportunities for the Wasa brand. Deliver strategic recommendations for if/how to develop Barilla’s offering in this space. 
  • Analytic – Provide an overview of the healthy snack cracker/category and key innovation in this space. This can also include analyzing key competitors and their main forms of communication to consumers – ie website, advertising, eCommerce initiatives, etc. Provide recommendations on what key innovations are working in this segment that could be a good fit for Wasa. 
  • Creative – Lead a creative project which could include a photo shoot for new product static ads, including recipe development and on-shoot management or for digital assets 
  • Sales Management – Support brand activation at any upcoming trade shows (if applicable)

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • MBA candidate 
  • Passion for CPG Food marketing, especially natural foods 
  • Strong analytic ability, with a desire to leverage data into insights for the establishment of strategy 
  • Self-starter, good time management and open communication style 
  • Ability to manage timelines and lead cross-functional peers 
  • Understanding of marketing concepts – including 4 P’s and basic marketing frameworks 
  • Solid presentation and communication skills
