The Broadcast Business Manager’s primary role is to process payments to performers appearing in commercials (radio and TV) as produced by the agency; from initial session fees and later, use and reuse payments. They are required to prepare estimates based on SAG, AFTRA, and AFM contracts as well as setting up and maintaining records of all commercials so that all residual and holding fee dates are maintained. They are required to renegotiate SAG contracts at expiration of commercials. The Broadcast Business Manager will also assist with broadcast production projects, including radio, animatics and small video editing projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintains all broadcast agreements
  • Prepares talent payment authorizations
  • Estimates reuse fees
  • Formulates talent session and residuals estimates
  • Provides teams with estimate revisions as needed
  • Calculates/ processes talent session and residual payments per media buy
  • Updates payments as changes in media buy occur
  • Negotiates with talent agents to get the best possible rate and maintains good working relationships with outside organization
  • Assists with broadcast traffic/productions overflow
  • Maintains talent archive files
  • Issues supplemental/addendum/revised estimates as needed
  • Issues all talent purchase orders
  • Maintains cost control on all talent jobs
  • Checks and approves payroll service invoices

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum one year agency experience
  • Bachelors degree
  • Must comprehend and advise on union rules for SAG, AFTRA, AFM
  • Must have good communication and writing skills
  • Must have accuracy in working with numbers
  • Demonstrate ability to work with deadlines in a professional manner
