HOW YOU WILL DO IT

In this role you will be responsible for devising plans which sell solutions to Plexus business development targets. This position will be responsible for meeting business development revenue goals for sector or regional accounts. Gain business by utilizing professional sales techniques. Focus on a base of assigned target accounts that fit the Plexus customer profile and utilize time management skills to apply effort to the appropriate accounts. This position will focus in the Industrial/Commercial/Communication market sectors of your business.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Find customers by identifying and validating profitable business opportunities that fit the Plexus strategy and “Customer of Choice” criteria.Maintain a working knowledge of current and potential customers in the assigned sector, including products, markets, key people, funding, revenue, competition, and future manufacturing strategy. Work with the market sector team to identify risks and opportunities for Plexus in order to prioritize and inform market development efforts. 
  • Build and develop multi-level relationships, including at executive level, with external customers and within Plexus. Partner with other key Plexus functions (e.g. manufacturing and engineering) to further customer relationships 
  • Coach, Influence, and Advise Plexus cross-functional teams to increase ability to win business. Advocate for capability requirements necessary to meet the evolving needs of customers. 
  • Stay current with market sector trends, industry, and environment. Be fully conversant in business models, trends, competition, markets and needs. Leverage market sector knowledge and research to work with key Plexus leaders, including the Senior Director for Business Development and the Market Sector Vice President, to create and sustain an overall sector marketing strategy. 
  • Create target-customer account strategies to win business and create mutual benefit for Plexus. Lead a cross-functional team to translate customer needs into solutions utilizing the Plexus Product Realization Value Chain. 
  • Accountable to execute on Plexus’ Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Work with the business development staff to follow-up on all leads in a timely manner. 
  • Utilize the CRM tool to record and communicate sales activities. 
  • Report on high-level opportunities. 
  • Support the day-to-day needs of the potential customers. 
  • Attain adequate training to become and remain a “technical” sales professional. 
  • Support trade shows as required. 
  • Frequent travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 50%). 
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Here’s what we are looking for:

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; Post-Graduate coursework or Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Five (5) years of related experience is required; Eight (8) years of related experience is preferred. 
  • Experience in an electronics or engineering design environment preferred. 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.

Other Qualifications:

  • The individual must maintain objectivity and possess proactive problem solving skills, along with the ability to make timely and effective recommendations to resolve problems as they arise.

Work Environment:

  • The work setting should consist of an office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a low noise level.
