Marketing & Business Development

The Marketing & Business Development team works closely with attorneys to help identify and pursue opportunities for new work, provide best practices for engaging in business development activities and elevate the firm’s profile within the marketplace. The Business Development Specialist supports the Business Development and Marketing teams in driving new business and increasing revenue for the firm. The Specialist works under the supervision of the Business Development Director and is responsible for supporting activities associated with our business development goals. The Specialist is expected to understand and help improve procedures, tools and initiatives, and to keep team members informed on progress. The ideal candidate understands or is eager to learn the legal industry, is experienced in proactively solving problems, is a strong writer and communicator and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Working with Business Development Director to execute on the firm’s short and long-term business development goals.
  • Supporting the development of new business proposals, marketing materials and presentations, and executing on projects utilizing the marketing and library research functions as appropriate.
  • Tracking deadlines and submissions for Chambers, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers and like recognitions.
  • Tracking deadlines for upcoming awards. Assisting with drafting nominations.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the firm’s CRM (InterAction), leveraging the Legal Executive Assistants.
  • Maintaining event and mailing lists in InterAction and suggesting additions and deletions.
  • Utilizing the library research functions where appropriate, conducting and analyzing market data on clients, prospects and competitors.
  • Creating and maintaining marketing materials and bios for assigned practices/teams. Ensuring that updated materials are added to relevant sources (i.e. Internet, team shared files).
  • Developing promotion strategy for thought leadership.
  • Producing webinars for practice groups, including day-of technical support.
  • Tracking sponsorship deadlines, completing sponsorship paperwork, ensuring events have attendees, and processing payments.
  • Drafting copy for firm’s LinkedIn account in support of business development goals.
  • Providing backup support for designing and testing email marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborating with marketing to expand practice/team visibility and enhancing the firm’s profile in a variety of ways, including seminars, trade organization participation, article placement, newsletters, survey responses, directory listings, public relations and transactional databases.
  • Providing support on other practice/team/firm projects as requested by managers.

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communication, Business or equivalent.
  • Have 2-3 years of sales or business development experience preferred, ideally in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Possess strong written communication skills and ability to write for different mediums – published materials, social media, etc.
  • Have baseline knowledge of assigned practices/teams/industries and a basic understanding of all practices in the firm to facilitate cross-selling.
