The Capital Campaign Associate works with Capital Command leadership, front-line fundraisers, and Campaign Counsel in a strategic and tactical capacity to ensure the success of the $22 million campaign to raise funds for a new homeless shelter and supportive services hub in downtown Madison.

About the role:

Campaign Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Capital Area Coordinator and Leadership including: travel and meeting coordination, proactive calendar management, Salesforce data management, and file organization. 
  • Coordinate donor correspondence, including gift acknowledgements, funding proposals, special mailings, preparation of reports and presentations. 
  • Serve as point of entry for communication and coordination between Corps Leadership, Campaign Counsel, front-line fundraisers and volunteer fundraisers. 
  • Assist Campaign Counsel in facilitation of Campaign Committee meetings, including scheduling, attendance, agenda and materials preparation, and taking meeting minutes. 
  • As directed, facilitate the fundraising activities of volunteer campaign fundraisers by providing clerical, record-keeping, and other administrative support for their prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation efforts. 
  • Manage content development for campaign communications using Salvation Army brand standards, including print and digital collateral and design production in collaboration with staff. 
  • Mentor and support staff in fundraising best practices. 
  • Attend team and organizational meetings, activities, and events as required. 
  • Develop and maintain an accurate report of campaign progress to date for Divisional and Territorial leadership.

Prospect Research:

  • Conduct prospect research in support of the Campaign and the Major Gifts Program, as requested by the Capital Area Coordinator, frontline fundraisers, and the Campaign Counsel. 
  • Utilize internet and subscription research (Research Point) tools/resources to locate, analyze and interpret financial capacity and propensity, including compensation information, stocks/options and retirement plans, property transactions, and philanthropic interests. 
  • Prepare written reports including biographical and business information, financial assets, areas of interest and philanthropic support, and affiliations. 
  • Maintain Salesforce database specific to prospect research.

What we are looking for in you:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with a preference for advanced post-graduate studies.

Experience:

  • Five years' experience, in fundraising with preference for capital campaign experience.
  • Experience with committee/board leadership.
  • Experience working with high-level volunteers, donors, and program staff on collaborative activities.
  • Experience working with Dane County donors is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license

Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with issues of fundraising.
  • Practice general professional and workplace ethics.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of people in a dynamic environment; high energy; focus; collaborative spirit.
  • Self-directed and proactive, the ability to take the initiative without direction.
  • Able to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work comfortably with donors is required.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database management.
  • Prospect research and data analysis experience, and an understanding of financial terminology and wealth indicators to assess income, assets, and philanthropic activity strongly preferred.
  • Above average written and oral communication skills including making well-organized and impactful presentations.
