The College of Fine Arts & Communication (COFAC) consists of four units that include both liberal arts and professional degree programs: the School of Design & Communication (BA and BFA Art/Art History, BFA Graphic Design, BFA Interior Architecture, BA and BS Media Studies, Pre-Art Therapy, and BS Professional Communication); the Department of Music (BA Music, BM Jazz Studies, BM/MME Music Education and BM Music Performance); the Department of Theatre & Dance (BFA Acting, BA Arts Management, BA Dance, BA Drama, BFA Musical Theatre, and BFA Theatre Design and Technology); and Suzuki Programs (Aber Suzuki Center and the American Suzuki Institute) with approximately seventy faculty and staff, and twenty+ degree programs, minors and certificates. The college provides between 350-400 educational and cultural events for the campus and broader community each year and is an active community partner.

The COFAC Marketing and Communication Design Specialist position serves as primary staff for marketing and communication design for the college, including internal and external constituents. Position is responsible for developing a marketing plan, market research, and the design and development of content for college recruitment and campus/community cultural and educational events in a wide variety of formats and platforms. A high level of graphic design ability is an essential component to successful development and implementation of a unified college promotion system as well as the ability to support and assess effective marketing strategies. Position works closely with college/unit administrative staff and serves in a supervisory role for communication design interns. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts & Communication. 

  • A. Marketing: Develop, implement, and maintain strategic marketing plans in support of the COFAC marketing goals and priorities. Collect, analyze, prepare, summarize, and disseminate data and trends relevant to current and future marketing activities including tracking and monitoring social media analytics. Periodically review and assess effectiveness of strategies, plans and materials content. 35%
  • B. Design Communication: Develop, design and oversee production of effective marketing and recruitment materials in a wide variety of formats and platforms for three campus locations including print materials, website design/content, and social media using essential design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and recruitment software such as Slate. Work with the University Communications & Marketing to align the COFAC initiatives, branding and marketing standards with the overall university Collect images/video and stories regarding activities in the college (including current students and faculty, alumni, and programs) to share on the website, with university media, on social media, and in regularly produced college newsletters. Serve as art director on visual communication design materials content, quality, and production including promotional videos. Oversee the hiring and mentorship of student interns in the area of college marketing and design. 45% 
  • C. Outreach and Events: Design and maintain an inventory of promotional/recruitment materials. Regularly promote and maintain communication with alumni: update alumni maps, collect COFAC Point-to-Point Alumni Connections information, announcements, newsletters, etc. Work with college/unit leadership and university admissions to provide appropriate informational materials and merchandise for recruitment events. Contact alumni, faculty/staff and community members related to events and activities hosted by the college. 20%

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of graphic design/visual communication design and marketing skills (provide sample work via e-portfolio or website). 
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite (or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong organizational and collaborative skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, and effectively manage multiple projects.

Prefered Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in graphic/web design and art direction
  • Experience in photography, video, multi-media platforms
  • Experience with marketing strategies.
  • Pay Schedule-range: $42,000, minimum, based on qualifications and experience.
