The Commodity Consultant/Broker is a day-to-day relationship manager and broker to our dairy and grain clients, upholding our reputation for caring. The advisor builds trust by demonstrating a sincere interest in helping each client in their farm marketing. Primary job is maintaining customer retention by providing world class service and satisfaction through the consultant’s abilities to assist and execute pricing decisions.

Ability to work remotely, within the United States.

  • Through the consultant’s knowledge of commodity marketing, build a trusted relationship with each client by understanding the marketing constraints, goals, and needs of the customer's operation. 
  • Proactively consult with the client to understand the operation’s marketing needs and then customize and implement recommendations accordingly. 
  • Execute futures and options pricing decisions in the customer’s hedge account promptly and accurately. 
  • Provide a high level of communication to each client through phone calls, text messages, emails, webinars, strategy videos, farm visits, and customer appreciation events. 
  • Maintain and track detailed information in CRM for each client, including information regarding the operation and all positions within the cash market and hedge account. 
  • Present to audiences of clients or prospects. 
  • Be an active participant in digital communications such as daily market reports and strategy videos. 
  • Review client surveys and react quickly to all feedback. 
  • Share market insight and strategy suggestions with the team on a daily/weekly basis. 
  • Support the team by taking incoming phone calls and backing up on daily tasks when other team members are not available or in the office. 
  • Inform Digital Marketing of industry-related publications and resources that we could use to reach our clients and promote to prospects. 
  • Complete all internal trainings, review all internal communications, and implement these within daily tasks. 
  • Always seek continuous improvement in individual and company processes including strategy development and delivering client satisfaction. 
  • Teamwork is required. Support each other, always, in developing and delivering our service.
  • Expect to own individual skill and professional development. 
  • Build, implement, and present on a quarterly basis your personal development plan and progress. 
  • Demonstrate initiative. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum 5 years commodity trading experience 
  • Minimum 5 years technical analysis 
  • Some farming background or demonstrated ability to communicate with farmers
  • Experience in futures and options and their use in hedging and risk management for dairies and grain operations
  • Experience in technical analysis 
  • Knowledge and experience with cash tools available in the industry 
  • Ability to apply market knowledge and trading principles to customize soundprogram strategies to individual farms and individual businesses 
  • Ability to communicate and explain sophisticated trading recommendations 
  • Thorough understanding of financial principles 
  • Research and data management tracking skills 
  • Intermediate mathematical skills Ability to take ownership of the client relationship 
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively 
  • Professional and well-developed oral, written, and phone communication skills 
  • Ability to stay focused and concentrate in an open office environment 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player with minimal supervision 
  • Self-starter with excellent follow-through and a company growth mindset 
  • Excellent computer skills, with the ability to maintain a high level of user-functionality using multiple PC applications and programs

  • Willingness to work the hours necessary to provide proper service. This is not a “9 to 5” job. 
  • Willingness to travel for client visits and events 20%+ of time.

Salary plus incentive for customer retention.  Total compensation will vary, based on experience and success.
