Children’s Wisconsin is seeking an individual with exceptional writing and organizational skills to fill a Communication Coordinator role on our Marketing and Experience team. The individual who fills this role will support the work of the Communication team in a number of ways. This includes both planned activities as well as when the team is managing issues, hot topics and current events, such as during hospital incident command situations. Writing and editing are core components of this position, including speed, accuracy and the ability to write for multiple audiences and channels. Our new teammate will help with posting to our intranet and social media accounts as well as tracking the effectiveness of these communications. They also will support logistics for large meetings, news conference and other events. The work of this role includes opportunities to meet with families and interact with caregivers. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple responsibilities, and eager to learn new skills.

  • Exhibits guiding behaviors that reflect our values and support our mission and vision. 
  • Writes and edits news articles, feature stories, social media posts and other communications for internal and external audiences, including conducting research and interviewing experts. 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of communication plans for selected departments and programs. 
  • Posts information to our intranet, public website and social media channels. 
  • Monitors news and social media accounts and generates reports to drive improvement in our work. 
  • Supports production of internal leadership meetings, news conferences and other events run by the Communication team. 
  • Participates in the rotating 24/7 schedule in support of social media monitoring and posting. 
  • Supports the work of the Communication team through various administrative tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational communication, journalism, public relations or related areas of study. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in internal or external communication, marketing or a related role. 
  • Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to write effectively for a wide variety of audiences. 
  • Good judgement and organizational skills to support multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong customer service skills, including interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with internal audiences (such as employees and providers) and external audiences (including patient families, news media and the general public). 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and web content management and other digital communication systems.
