We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starter to join our team in Minneapolis as a Communication Manager to implement internal and external communication programs for employees, media and other key stakeholders.

This is a unique opportunity to help guide a comprehensive company communication strategy while working with a variety of teams across the network. The role reports to our vice president of Communication and Investor Relations and is based in our Minneapolis HQ.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication instincts, a keen eye for detail, and proven abilities to think strategically as well as execute on tactical communication efforts that are core to the needs of the business.

We are looking for candidates with experience in internal communication, PR and media relations. Experience in an agency environment is preferred. A mix of agency and in-house experience is ideal.

Key responsibilities:

This role will help oversee the company’s multi-channel communication programs to inform, engage and align employees. You will spend time writing and editing for various internal channels, providing leadership and coordination to mid- and large-scale internal events and meetings, and implementing tools and methods to enable effective communication across our corporate and field-based network. You will have the opportunity to partner with business leaders to tackle various communication initiatives, while owning your own core set of programs and responsibilities that provide value to our business and our brand.

  • Oversee internal communication channels and programs, including weekly company news, internal social collaboration (Yammer), recognition and engagement initiatives, and mid-to-large scale employee events. This aspect of the role will include content curation, creation, and flawless project management capabilities.
  • Help monitor, manage and enhance external communication initiatives, including but not limited to overseeing quarterly financial filings and news, providing content and oversight to company social media positioning, and executing other timely media relations efforts, as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal functional teams (Marketing, HR IT, etc.) to plan and execute company wide communication campaigns and ensure that communication is planned, sequenced and integrated across the company. Provide periodic counsel to executives and other leaders and assist in their direct-to-team and all-company communication efforts.

Must Haves:

The know-how. 3-5 years of communication or public/media relations. Strong knowledge and understanding of internal and external communication methods and media types (traditional, digital, social media)

Exceptional communication instincts. Ability to formulate clear points of view on complex issues, quickly distinguish key messages for your audience, and create concise and well-written narratives to express them.

Flexibility and attitude. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet competing deadlines with careful attention to detail. Demonstrates poise and grace under pressure. Proven ability to influence and earn trust with business leaders.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism
