The Communication Specialist will effectively and efficiently manage communications materials and campaigns to internal audiences surrounding significant planned and unplanned events. Manage the development and distribution of communication material to support Optum Rx capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development and coordination of communications to the Optum Rx community, establishing consistency in approach and delivery of internal messages
  • Work closely with other business partners (including clinical, marketing, public relations, customer service, and others) to coordinate communications to internal audiences
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and marketing colleagues to strengthen various internal communication channels
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of Optum Rx and Optum business policies and procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher 
  • 3+ years’ of experience in communications 
  • 1+ years’ of internal communication planning experience
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to write clearly for various communications materials and channels and multiple internal audiences. 
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms preferred 
  • Excellent attention to detail, oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects while meeting or exceeding deadline expectations 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Strong creative energy and a flexible, proactive approach to problem solving 
  • Ability to work successfully independently and within cross-functional teams, often under demanding and/or changing deadlines 
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple partners on multiple, simultaneous projects 
  • Ability to function as both a team leader and team member 
  • Ability to synthesize complex information from various sources and make recommendations 
  • Ability to apply knowledge and expertise to identify potential issues that could impact desired outcomes
