Purpose:

To assist the Marketing Manager in differentiating the co-op by sharing stories that illustrate the cooperative difference through various print and digital mediums. To edit the co-op's print and electronic newsletters and maintain its social media platforms, and website.

Status: Full time. Reports to the Marketing Manager.

Pay Level: VI, represented by the UFCW663 bargaining unit

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Marketing Manager on campaigns promoting the co-op, its initiatives and products using an equity lens as a filter 
  • Maintain a digital presence that aligns with the Seward Co-op's mission and brand. 
  • Edit, produce and distribute quarterly newsletter, "Sprout!" 
  • Collaborate with designer(s) to set-up photoshoots and complete "Sprout!" design layout 
  • Coordinate advertising for the "Sprout!" 
  • Organize and maintain the co-op's electronic archives producer profiles 
  • Create and collaborate with other co-op staff to produce culturally inclusive Marketing content in the voice of Seward brand for use on social media sites, website, and other Marketing communication channels. 
  • Promote annual events and educational initiatives to community members 
  • Work with Advocacy Specialist to research current trends in the co-op and natural foods industries in order to inform owners and shoppers 
  • Other special projects and administrative duties as assigned 
  • Research emerging social media trends and opportunities that could help the co-op achieve its strategic priorities 
  • Oversee the Brand Ambassador program and work to recruit and maintain a group of diverse individuals and departmental representation across the organization 
  • Support Brand Ambassadors in creating department specific social media content. 
  • This position is part of the Brand Team and supports the team with meeting minutes

Essential:

  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to self direct 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
  • Writing and editing skills; journalism, communication, or marketing background a plus 
  • Experience with digital photography 
  • Dependable attendance and demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments 
  • Computer proficiency 
  • Design and web skills, along with familiarity with social media 
  • English proficiency

Functional:

  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time per shift 
  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation. 
  • Ability to do math computations including addition, subtraction, division, fractions, decimals and percentages. 
  • Must have valid driver's license on file if driving between locations for support

Preferred:

  • Multilingual a plus 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers and co-workers from various cultural backgrounds 
  • A background or past experience in journalism or communication.
