JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager of PR/Communications will provide full-service communications support for Polaris Business Units, with responsibility for developing communication strategies to effectively reach a variety of audiences, including existing and new customers (via enthusiast and consumer PR), dealers, and employees. This person will create high-quality work, and be able to effectively manage agencies. The Manager of PR/Communications will work closely with business unit leaders, and will serve as a close advisor to the Senior Director of Strategic Communications. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communications skills; have a mastery of PR strategy; love powersports products; and be a solution-oriented, tenacious, self-starter who wants to lead a winning team and drive meaningful results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications Strategy & Execution -

  • Partner closely with the assigned business units to understand their priorities and recommend strategies to amplify their stories and drive results through internal and external communications; develop annual plan and opportunistic, real-time recommendations
  • Develop PR strategies to attract new customers and reinforce our position with existing customers; leverage consumer marketing programs, product launches and consumer trends to create editorial coverage of the company and products with influential media outlets; execute PR activities independently and oversee agencies
  • Develop strong relationships with priority media, bloggers and other influencers
  • Participate in the planning, development and execution of various internal communications to equip employees to be better brand advocates
  • Create streamlined, valuable communications for Polaris dealers to help them prioritize, improve their dealerships, and stay informed about key initiatives and selling opportunities
  • Manage content delivery (intranet, wire, etc.)
  • Provide recommendations for how to elevate the team’s work and enhance the team’s approach to communications across audiences
  • Develop enterprise-wide measurement strategy for PR

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in related field (Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Business)
  • 7+ years in Communications or Public Relations-related role(s)
  • Proven ability to develop effective communication plans to achieve goals
  • Strong writing, editing and verbal communications skills
  • Deep knowledge of public relations strategy – including story development, pitching, content creation, influencer relationships, etc. – and how PR intersects with marketing and social
  • Success leading and/or mentoring others (formally or informally)
  • An understanding, appreciation and passion for Polaris product preferred
  • Knowledge of powersports industry – and corresponding media – preferred
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix environment; ability to make decisions and influence leadership
  • Self-motivated, solution-oriented, resilient, tenacious attitude/approach
  • Ability to meet deadlines while delivering quality results
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with continuous change

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard office environment
  • Periodic, but extensive travel required at points of the year
