Communications Assistant

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT:

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission (MRM) is seeking a part-time Communications Assistant to support the Communications Team with various communication and public relations tasks and projects.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday, 1st shift, Part-time (20 hours/week). Will be flexible with start time and days of week.

LOCATION:

Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the following communications duties:

• Prepare copy feedback on all external communications
• Ensure all MRM brand guidelines are followed throughout all digital and print communication
• Provide fundraising strategy recommendations
• Content creation for social media presence on all digital platforms
• Projects as assigned

Assist with the following public relations duties:

• Press releases for distribution to local media
• Photograph and video record various events and initiatives at both campuses
• Facilitate the production of print materials

Assist with projects as needed, including event-related projects

Attend internal and external meetings

Provide general departmental support as directed

• High School diploma required, post-secondary education in related field (Communications, English, Business) preferred 
• A mature Christian with a servant’s heart who is able to relate well with others in a diverse population 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google products 
• Willingness to learn basic skills in Adobe Suite products 
• Creative skill set 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Strong time management skills with the capacity of managing multiple projects simultaneously 
• Detail orientated with excellent organization and follow-through skills 
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and community-driven with a positive attitude and readiness to be a flexible team player 
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record 
• Must be able to handle physical workload – ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, walking, stair climbing, kneeling, squatting, crouching, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms, as well as occasional lifting or moving items with a maximum weight of 55lbs a short distance (ex: floor to shelf or cart), and pushing or pulling heavier items with the use of a cart or dolly 
• Have a genuine concern for the salvation and spiritual welfare for all those encountered though the ministry of MRM, seeking to model and share the hope of the gospel within the established responsibilities of this position. 
• A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive 
• Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions 
• Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct 
• Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
