OVERVIEW:

As Communications Associate Manager, Sustainability, you will be responsible for developing and executing internal and external global communications strategies across General Mills’ priority global impact and sustainability initiatives to reach key stakeholders.

In this role, you will lead and execute communications strategy development, craft compelling storytelling narratives, and create content that achieves business objectives, showcases progress, and advances the company’s reputation.

You will be accountable for communicating progress against the company’s corporate reputation strategy, G stands for Good – specifically how General Mills is creating positive planetary outcomes for our future.

This position reports to Communications Sr. Manager, Reputation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Drive awareness of sustainability commitments and progress with global employees 
  • Lead change management sustainability communications for the enterprise, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners and Communications colleagues to support sustainability integration efforts 
  • Develop and execute strategic external communications announcements and programs 
  • Collaborate with partners to uncover positive and relevant stories about General Mills, its leaders and its brands 
  • Lead agency management 
  • Craft messaging, develop support materials and advance compelling creative assets to bring to life a steady drumbeat of storytelling 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and lead advancement of executive positioning plans, including earned, owned, and paid media and engagements 
  • Liaise with Communications colleagues to advance priorities across corporate channels, leader communication vehicles and events, and through media relations 
  • Partner closely with peer organizations and nonprofits to shape and share stories 
  • Translate complex business topics and the rapidly changing industry environment into understandable content for key stakeholders 
  • Review and analyze metrics and outcomes to continuously learn and drive improvements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related field 
  • 5 years minimum of professional Communications experience in a corporate or agency setting 
  • Proactive, self-starter 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Experience with both internal and external communications 
  • Media relations experience 
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise and simple messaging 
  • Ability to consistently deliver on tight deadlines while prioritizing and advancing several projects simultaneously and maintaining strong attention to detail 
  • Passion for reputation communications 
  • Ability to successfully navigate a matrixed organization across functions, levels and geographies 
  • Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong PowerPoint experience and research skills 
  • Sustainability communications experience preferred

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $90100.00 - $135300.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
