The archdiocese central offices assist Catholic parishes and schools with resources, leadership and support, and disseminate the teachings of the archbishop.The Mary Mother of the Church Pastoral Center is the central office location for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

The Communication Office promotes and preserves the integrity of the mission of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee through bold and effective print and digital publications. The Communication Office assists the other central offices in producing and disseminating information and resources to parishes, schools, and all those to whom the archdiocese ministers. The Communication Office also handles all official correspondence for the Office of the Archbishop and interactions with the press and general public.

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has an opportunity for a bilingual communication professional to provide strategic communications for archdiocesan, parish and school initiatives. Reporting to the Communication Director, the Communication Coordinator will also develop and implement a strategic approach for communication with the Hispanic Catholic Population in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee area.

  • Coordinate and execute Hispanic social media strategy,monitoring and analytics, building an engaged social media audience. 
  • Provide website content management. 
  • Identify and nurture relationships within the Hispanic Catholic community to evaluate and support their unique communication needs.
  • Provide project management in support of the communication needs of various archdiocesan offices.
  • Coordinate the development of digital, video, audio and print content.
  • Collaborate and consult with the communication team, archdiocese office directors and parish and school leaders regarding cultural and communication considerations of the Hispanic community.
  • Coordinate media relations efforts with Hispanic media outlets.
  • Translate materials from English to Spanish and coordinate translation vendor services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related discipline is required.
  • Two to five years of work experience in a communication field required, with experience in the development and implementation of communication/marketing programs.
  • Must be fully bi-lingual in Spanish and English, and able to translate on the college level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications strategy and technologies.
  • Experience with digital communications content including social media campaigns and analytics and website content management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including impeccable copywriting and copy editing abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan and carry out projects and duties and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Experience working in a Catholic parish, school or other non-profit organization preferred. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church is preferred. 
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred. 
  • Must posess a valid drivers license. 
  • It is expected that the individual who is hired for this position will not speak on behalf of any other organization while a member of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee communications staff.
  • The Archdiocese of Milwaukee provides a full-scope of employment benefits. The position is a full-time, salaried position working in-person at the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Pastoral Center. Occasional weekend and evening assignments and occasional travel throughout the archdiocese are involved.

3 weeks vacation after 90 days, other benefits available first of the month following 30 days of employment.
