Latin School of Chicago is hiring a Communications Coordinator to support the Communications department in development and execution of communications programs, projects, and initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Coordinator will help create promotional materials, contribute to the maintenance of the school’s website, manage the school’s social media presence, and interact with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the school’s message.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the day-to-day upkeep of the school’s suite of websites (public site and intranet): a) Keep all content up-to-date as needed and b) Provide support to school staff members who are responsible for maintaining content on individual sites and pages
  • Assist Director of Marketing and Communications by drafting and editing content for the school’s websites, social media accounts and publications
  • Help manage the school’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Use platforms and multimedia tools such as video and photography to share school news, events and accomplishments.
  • Serve as on-site photographer and videographer for social media and digital communications to cover all aspects of school life
  • Help develop strategies that will help expand the school’s online presence and increase stakeholder engagement
  • Design marketing and promotional materials for the school
  • Ensure all graphic products meet the school’s branding and style guidelines and style
  • Ensure all communication materials are aligned with the school’s strategic plan and goals
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 3-5 years or more experience in communications, public relations, journalism, website design and management, social media management or related field
  • Advanced skills in website content management systems; knowledge of the Finalsite platform preferred
  • Experience in social media management and developing content for the web
  • Experience in graphic design, photography, and video production and editing
  • Knowledge of Mac computers and programs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to build consensus and work effectively within the school and various departments
  • Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility, ownership and accountability
  • Exemplary writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team setting
  • Strong commitment to personal and professional growth and development
