Responsibilities:

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop communication and execute media relations for significant Johnsonville corporate events. 
  • Keep Johnsonville top of mind among key audiences via year-round strategic media placements. 
  • Develop, draft and distribute news releases and respond to media inquiries. 
  • Maintain and regularly update a speaker’s kit, including Johnsonville’s economic footprint and select member bios. 
  • Prepare Johnsonville spokespersons for media interviews, including development of talking points, media training and more. 
  • Serve as corporate spokesperson, crisis communications lead and media contact. 
  • Stay current with industry issues and trends and create standby statements for the crisis management program. 
  • Use social media and social listening techniques to guide the Johnsonville brand. 
  • Develop a robust pipeline of fresh business content for Johnsonville’s quarterly company-wide meetings (Town Halls), intranet, newsletter and other business forums. 
  • Coordinate and execute Town Halls across the organization. 
  • Coordinate and/or author bi-monthly articles for Johnsonville’s newsletter, the “Link Letter.” 
  • Create recruiting materials and maintain the jobs.johnsonville.com website to showcase the Johnsonville employment experience.

What you bring to the job:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field 
  • Minimum five years’ experience in corporate communications or public relations 
  • Minimum three years’ experience in crisis communication 
  • Experience using social media 
  • Passion for results 
  • Superlative communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Strong project leadership skills 
  • Great relationship-building skills 
  • Maturity and adaptability to work with members inside and outside the organization 
  • Curiosity; the need to learn 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and handle deadline pressure on multiple projects
