Detailed Description of Responsibilities:

60% - Internal Communications & Employee Engagement

  • Leads development and implementation of comprehensive internal communication strategy and yearly plan that supports business objectives, manages significant change and builds employee engagement across the Bio industrial group globally. 
  • Work in close collaboration with leadership to drive the process of building and aligning the internal culture. 
  • Leads on creation of Bio industrial internal communication messaging and content (Intranet, Town halls, newsletters, etc.) 
  • Creates and manages mix of communication channels/vehicles (including on-line) that reach all Bio industrial employees in the most effective way by soliciting and using employee feedback. 
  • Define and manage appropriate budget/resource requirements, under the leadership of Senior Communications Director Food Ingredients and Bio industrial. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Bio industrial group leadership on strategies for addressing complex sensitive issues (e.g. reorgs, divestments, etc.) which have the potential to impact the external image of the Group & Cargill as well as internal engagement. 
  • Assures consistency with the Food Ingredients and Bio industrial strategy, Corporate Affairs function governance, and Cargill’s global brand positioning and messaging. 
  • Builds in appropriate measurement opportunities, aligned with the Enterprise, to allow continuous improvement and ensure sustainable results. 
  • Share and use best practices. 
  • Manages agency support.

20% - External Communications

  • Develop and implement a Bio industrial external communication plan. 
  • Plan and direct public relations and communications efforts that favorably position the Bio industrial business to relevant stakeholders in the marketplace. 
  • Handle Bio industrial specific issues management activities, in alignment with Cargill globally. 
  • Coordinates news releases and media interviews with Corporate Affairs to assure consistency of message and streamline contacts with media. 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key trade media. 
  • Build strong collaboration with Bio Industrial Marketing and Marketing Communications. 
  • Coach Bio industrial group leadership on effective media interview techniques and public speaking.

10% - Crisis Management and Issues Management

  • Handles specific crisis activities relating to Bio industrial.
  • Provides guidance and direction to Bio industrial leadership on issues management and communications in the event of crises to assure that actions taken are consistent with protecting and advancing Cargill’s brand and reputation 
  • Ensures appropriate risk mitigation plans are in place and media/crisis training has been completed across the Bio industrial group globally.

10% - Community Engagement

  • Partners with the Bio Industrial Group leadership to promote and support community engagement activities within the region, its businesses and locations consistent with guidelines and support provided by the global Corporate Responsibility team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant communications experience in B2B or B2C, with excellent track record. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing communications or a related field 
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English. 
  • Experience working in a global organization with global responsibilities (content and team) 
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization. 
  • Experience leading communications (internal and external) during organizational change. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing integrated communications programs within scope and budget. 
  • Good understanding of marketing communications and corporate brand requirements. 
  • Planning and results driven competencies with experience of maintaining progress with multiple deadlines/initiatives. 
  • Savvy media relations and spokespersons skills 
  • Good understanding of communication methods across written, online, social and video. 
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on mentality. 
  • Team player, also in a virtual team set-up with global team. 
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure all communications are accurate, well-written and in the right voice for the intended audience.
