Ecumen operates a variety of senior housing options and services, including cooperative senior housing, independent living, assisted living, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation care, home care and hospice. In addition to our consumer services, we provide senior housing development, clinical consulting and senior housing management services for organizations outside of Ecumen.

Ecumen is one of the country’s largest non-profit senior housing and services organizations.

Innovation and growth are two of the key components of this growing health services field. We’re looking for a Communications Director to support Ecumen’s overarching mission to serve more people as it provides choices for how and where people want to live and connect with their communities as they age.

Responsibilities:

The Communications Director works collaboratively with a cross-functional communications, marketing and sales team to support strategic communications and public relations needs as well as internal communications, driving consistent tone and messaging that reflects the organization’s greater mission and brand. In addition, the Director will collaborate closely with senior leaders to develop communications strategies to drive measurable business results.

Essential job responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute annual and multi-year internal/external communication strategies directly related to key company priorities, defining KPIs for programming. 
  2. Develop a media relations strategy that coordinates with our paid placement strategy to generate targeted visibility of the company’s mission-driven, innovative leadership. 
  3. Manage incident-response communications and messages in crisis moments or other high-profile, urgent situations, working with regional teams. 
  4. Coordinate closely with Sales, Marketing, Digital and Social Media partners to ensure coordinated content development. 
  5. Develop communications programs that enhance team member understanding, engagement and active participation in company culture. 
  6. Actively participate in Communications & Marketing innovation strategy planning. 
  7. Provide media and communications counsel to leaders across the organization’s communities. 
  8. Other duties as needed.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Public Relations 
  • 8 years of fast-paced corporate or nonprofit communications work 
  • Excellent writer – proven experience with multiple formats: corporate; AP style; storytelling; social 
  • Proven success in media outreach; understands the synergy of social media and media relations; experience with digital marketing campaigns 
  • Ability to pivot on project priorities while still maintaining momentum on all work 
  • Thrives working on fast-paced, multi-faceted projects 
  • Ability to assess and balance multiple projects for multiple clients 
  • Commitment to nonprofit work 
  • Current valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare organization
