Overview:

The Communications Director is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution and management of all internal and external communication. This position drives effectiveness of communications between Regis Executive Leadership Team and our stakeholders, Franchisees, and employees through efficient channels, prioritization of messages, and developing the Regis “voice” so that the Regis strategy is communicated effectively and insights flow back and forth between the appropriate parties. This position is responsible for partnering with all departments to support the execution of strategic initiatives by developing and mobilizing communication plans to ensure timely, consistent and effective execution of company initiatives and development of the culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Marketing in the development of brand voice and maintain brand integrity across Regis. 
  • Identify communication goals and objectives by conducting a periodic needs assessment to identify gaps and opportunities. 
  • Partner with CEO to translate his message into clear and effective communications. 
  • Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy (social media, POS messaging, in-person cascading, etc.) 
  • Create and launch press releases. Contact members of the media to set up interviews with company representatives as needed. 
  • Provide coaching to the organization so that materials are drafted in a way that best communicates to stylists, leveraging simplicity, clarity, priority of messaging, and in a “voice” that resonates with stylists and salons. 
  • Partner with department representatives to develop communication to the field. 
  • Develop content for key leadership meetings, quarterly all employee meetings and annual conventions. 
  • Develop style and language guides for the organization. 
  • Develop and implement quarterly communication plans that are aligned with strategic initiatives and include goals, activities, materials and performance metrics. 
  • Manage, plan, direct, approve and implement a proactive and engaging communication program designed to ensure awareness and create momentum. 
  • Manage the development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic communications including but not limited to newsletters, presentations, intranet articles and operational guidelines. 
  • Manage and maintain the content on the company intranet site, Regisconnect. 
  • Manage and update company distribution lists. 
  • Reinforce and support company culture through communication vehicles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, including journalism, communication and/or marketing. 
  • 7+ years of experience in internal and external communications leadership role. 
  • Experience in press releases for public organizations. 
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills as well as creating a “voice” for the organization. 
  • Experience using a variety of communication vehicles including social, electronic (website), verbal and newsletters. 
  • Highly collaborative style with the proven ability to develop and implement communication strategies related to organizational awareness, strategic initiatives and processes. 
  • Effective project management skills. 
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects under time and resource pressure. 
  • Ability to balance detail and results orientation with an ability to see the big picture. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, service approach and the ability to work as a team player and develop strong organizational partnerships. 
  • Experience leading others. 
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to positively lead change in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience communicating to bilingual audiences is a plus. (Spanish / French)
