Position Details

Communications Director
Twin Cities Metro
Minneapolis, MN

The Corporate Communications Director is responsible for managing internal and external communications for a line of business or industry.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop a comprehensive communications strategy for an RSM line of business/industry that encompasses all stakeholders and supports line of business/industry strategy and objectives in alignment with RSM’s overall vision, purpose values and strategy. This includes working closely with the line of business/industry leader and their team to understand the strategy and build plans accordingly. (25%)
  • Develop internal communications to inform, engage and motivate employees around business priorities. (25%)
  • Working with the public relations director and outside agency, develop media relations strategies for LOB/industry, train spokespeople, build relationships with local or trade reporters and coordinate interviews. Seek to actively position RSM as a leading firm through the media in LOB/industry. (25%)
  • Collaborate with counterparts on the communications, marketing and growth team and other functional areas (HR, finance, etc.) to ensure that communications are planned, aligned, sequenced and integrated across the enterprise, and that shared resources are engaged and leveraged appropriately into plans and projects. (10%)
  • Work closely with advisees to foster collaboration, development opportunities and career growth aligned with individuals’ aspirations and the needs and expectations of the enterprise.(10%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)


  • BA/BS in communications, English or Journalism (required) 
  • MBA or MS in communications (preferred)


  • Exceptional writing and editing skills (required) 
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (required) 
  • SharePoint (preferred) 
  • Yammer (preferred)


  • 10 years of corporate communications experience; demonstrated experience defining and managing communications strategy for a business unit; effective presentation and communication skills; ability to learn new subject areas quickly. (required)


  • Highly collaborative and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to achieve results (required) 
  • Ability to coach executives in developing compelling messaging and delivering effective communications (required)
