Ryan Companies, US Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Director!

The Communications Director will be responsible for internal and external communications for the company. They will be dedicated to managing business-wide communications and work cooperatively with leadership and operations teams to ensure information reaches target audiences. This role will also be responsible for our communication platform and overall strategy through the delivery of consistent messages to various employee audiences and promote Ryan’s external brand.

The Communications Director will serve as a strategic leader in the development, implementation, and execution of communications programs related to company initiatives, strategy, and long-term planning that apply creative tactics across a variety of internal and external communications channels.

Internally, this role will:

  • Collaborate with and provide strategic counsel to executive leadership to ensure alignment on key messaging strategies and campaigns. 
  • Develop and maintain communications standards and protocol, determining the types, formats, and authority for all company-wide employee internal communications. 
  • Partner with IT team to create greater efficiency and consistency across the firm’s intranet and associated mobile application, determine content structure, navigation strategies, as well as monitor user engagement. 
  • Be responsible for all human resources communications while working with leaders in these areas to develop consistent and effective messaging and materials. 
  • Assist other shared services functions in the development and delivery of internal communication messages. 
  • Oversee employee recognition programs

Externally, this role will:

  • Determine national position for overall content strategy, with regional variations for use in local markets, while partnering with subject matter experts to identify topics, spokespersons, and training as needed. 
  • Provide supervisory oversight and consulting to the media relations team 
  • Manage crisis communication to all audiences, in collaboration with media relations, and serve as the central point of contact in a crisis. 
  • Analyze, improve, and develop communications channels and tactics, both digital and traditional.

To be successful in this role, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have a proven track record of developing internal communications to engage and inform teams. Candidates should have superb business and technical writing skills, along with excellent interpersonal verbal and written communications skills. They will also:

  • Be able to grasp and interpret complex concepts 
  • Have the ability to adapt content to reflect brand messaging and establish “best practices” processes 
  • Easily handle multiple projects simultaneously and respond to shifting priorities 
  • Be able to work cooperatively and collaborate with a team, across functions and geographies
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and be flexible and organized
