What You Will Do

As the Communications Manager, you will develop and drive internal communications strategy and manage day-to-day communications to internal audiences around the globe. Under the lead of the Director of Corporate Communications, work to ensure the goals of internal communications are aligned with A. O. Smith’s key business objectives. 

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans for a variety of internal clients that align with the company’s values and product positioning 
  • Work cross-functionally in partnership with senior leadership, business unit leaders, the PR and Social Media Manager, Human Resources, Operations, IT team to execute and align communication initiatives from concept to delivery to ensure consistency in message 
  • Create engaging content for the internal and external communications channels (intranet, corporate website, email, in-person events, virtual events etc.), create comprehensive content calendar for intranet, and regularly evaluate the efficiency of the channels used, making continuous improvements 
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse group of suppliers including web developers, photographers, designers, translation services and video production crews to deliver on-time, on-budget performance producing high quality materials 
  • Support Talent Management team with recognition events including speaker messaging, video direction, and event materials Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or other related field
  • Minimum 5 years communications experience. 
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is a plus 
  • Experience utilizing, managing and optimizing a suite of applications including website content management system, form creation, survey tools and mass email 
  • Able to manage a large number of projects and prioritize demands Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills and expertise in AP style 
  • Relevant experience in an internal communications role, ideally in-house, working with multi-lingual colleagues in multiple locations, and across time zones Proficient with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite including Express, Illustrator, Rush or similar 
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization from shop floor to executive and across all business units 
  • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented and possess strong organizational skills
  • Some travel is required
