Job Purpose and Impact

The Communications Manager will develop and align the internal and external communication strategy and take the lead for the communications within a specific group in the region to support employee engagement and drive business growth. In this role, you'll work closely with the media relations, digital and social teams as well as internal/external partners including business leaders. You'll work closely with the managing directors to collaborate with the global and regional communication teams, focusing on internal team engagement within our broader team to drive success.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop regional strategy in alignment with the global group communications strategy, to drive effective internal and external communications. 
  • Advise regional leadership on effective communications with employees and other critical stakeholders internally and externally. 
  • Drive collaboration between integrated teams from various communications practices to build and implement the strategy. 
  • Lead, coordinate and execute internal communication campaigns in the region from a content perspective across multiple channels to drive employee engagement and alignment around key business priorities. 
  • Provide customer-facing teams with key messages and support around issues and key business initiatives, in partnership with marketing and commercial excellence. 
  • Serve on issues management response teams, alongside Government Relations, Corporate Responsibility and other global functions, to manage Cargill's reputation and license to operate. 
  • Use global communications common tools, templates and processes to facilitate integrated communications across Cargill. 
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience 
  • Vendor selection and request for proposal process 
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint 
  • Good understanding of communications channels and content development for those channels 
  • Extensive experience with a variety of communications strategies used within a global, matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen to advise leadership and effectively partner with marketing and sales teams 
  • Ability to motivate and guide employees who report indirectly 
  • Ability to translate complicated messaging into easily understood language 
  • Familiarity with food and nutrition topics and issues
