Position Overview:

Founded in 1945 by the Stayer family, Johnsonville has grown from a small-town butcher shop, to become a leading global sausage business with sales in more than 40 countries. The Communications Manager plays an important role keeping the company’s more than 2,000 members informed, engaged and inspired. At Johnsonville, you will:

  • Lead and execute the internal communications function, including member and executive communication
  • Be a champion of our company culture, The Johnsonville Way, which prioritizes learning for life and “loving your neighbor.”

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to help Johnsonville achieve its enterprise priorities
  • Own internal communication channels, including content planning and creation, as well as results measurement, with a focus on Johnsonville’s intranet and mobile app, called The Grill
  • Partner with CEO and Strategy (leadership) Team on executive communications, including regular Town Hall meeting preparation and content development, as well as critical company-wide announcements
  • Collaborate with PR and social media teams to learn about external campaigns and promotions and create relevant, engaging content for Johnsonville members
  • Oversee internal communication partners and external agency support to achieve communications objectives
  • Manage annual internal communications budget
  • Partner with talent acquisition and marketing teams to create impactful employment branding awareness and recruitment campaigns
  • Lead internal communication related to crisis planning and response, including partnering with external communicators and agencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, PR or related discipline required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in a communications, public relations (PR) or similar role
  • Excellent writing, communication and editing skills
  • Experience writing for a variety of digital platforms
