The Communications Manager creates and executes a communications and marketing strategy that promotes MOM’s mission and aligns with MOM’s brand. Using tools such as email, printed materials, social media and the website, the Communications Managers works with the MOM staff to effectively reach a wide variety of groups including donors, clients, volunteers, program partners and community members.

Job Responsibilities:

Create and manage communications with the community including donors, volunteers and other community members.

  • Develop a strategic communications and marketing strategy around MOM’s mission and values that integrates our emphasis on action and advocacy while adhering to MOM’s brand.
  • Maintain a communications calendar that incorporates this strategy while keeping communications organized and timely.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with MOM’s leadership and development team to develop succinct monthly messaging summaries for staff to use as they communicate with community members.
  • Manage the creation of all public facing communications in conjunction with development team staff, including but not limited to appeals, print and email newsletter, thank you letters, annual reports, event materials, business engagement papers and other collateral material for stewarding donors.
  • Oversee the website including keeping all material about both programs and giving opportunities up to date and providing new content for timely website content, with a focus on producing content that is visually appealing, on-brand and SEO optimized.
  • Manage MOM’s social media platforms, including creating and soliciting content. Develop and execute a social media strategy to build brand awareness. Track and share results and metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Actively pitch relevant stories and content to the media.

Work with the program team to create and manage communications with clients and community partners who serve clients.

  • Working with the program team, develop and implement strategy to reach current clients.
  • Develop program materials including brochures and flyers for potential clients and community partners who serve potential clients.
  • Oversee the production of signage including signage for the Distribution Center and office.

We are seeking candidates who think strategically and creatively, and who have strong writing, visual, and project management skills. An ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent writing skills and have experience communicating with a range of audiences.
  • Have knowledge of best practices for writing and publishing on different digital platforms.
  • Have a basic proficiency in graphic design, with the ability to creatively manage outsourced graphic design projects to brand standards.
  • Be a creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment.
  • Be willing to engage in personal and professional work around cultural competency and knowledge of racial justice values.
  • Take initiative, recognize barriers and be proactive in implementing solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters.
  • Have experience using and mastering a variety of types of technology based tools, including basic experience with adobe suite projects, and intermediate experience with Microsoft tools such as word and excel. Must also have the ability and curiosity to learn independently.
  • Represent MOM’s values when interacting in the community.
  • Be able to navigate a fast-paced work environment, set strategic priorities, balance several projects at once and meet critical deadlines, while creating and following processes that keeps workflow organized and efficient

MOM requires all staff members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the CDC guidelines.

$51,000-$55,000 (commensurate with experience), FTE, benefits, salaried-exempt (willing to consider 30 hours with adjusted salary)
