Job Summary:

PPL is looking for a talented, well-rounded person to join our Communications Team as Communications Manager. The Communications Manager will work to propel PPL's brand image through consistent messaging and strategy and will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall PPL communications plan to include print, digital, brand management, and marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Responsible for finalizing and implementing an annual strategic marketing/communications plan(s), in conjunction with the organization's key program staff, to create positive metrics, and assure consistency in message and resonance with each audience.

  • Maintain the institutional image of PPL through communications and marketing materials.
  • Create, produce and evaluate marketing communications materials to help PPL meet organizational objectives.
  • Ensure successful execution of print and electronic communications.
  • Develop, maintain, and adhere to organizational and brand identity standards.
  • Serve as a writer for organizational publications, eNews, blogs, annual reports, and others as assigned.

Monitor budgets for the communications area.

Develop content to include storytelling aimed at a donor audience.

Management of the PPL website includes updating information, developing new pages, maintenance, tracking usage, assessments, etc. Maintain a strong relationship with the web designer to ensure the technology meets the organization's needs.

Manage and implement digital campaigns via social media platforms, email, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will supervise the Communications Coordinator and interns and volunteers as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

An ideal candidate will:

  • Be familiar with Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite, including In-Design 
  • Possess print production, planning, and organizing skills 
  • Have user familiarity with Drupal content management platform 
  • Have functional knowledge of social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. 
  • Have a results-driven style and personal accountability and be able to identify and implement creative approaches to marketing/communications and their effect on positioning the organization. 
  • Have experience working with vulnerable populations 
  • Possess maturity and self-confidence and will bring a fresh perspective and "out of the box" thinking to PPL's work.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, but experience in business communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field or equivalent is valued. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a marketing/communications function; news or communications writing and editing is required. 
  • Understands digital marketing and communications relating to the PPL brand and fundraising efforts. 
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Salary: $57,500.00-$62,500.00 Yr., DOQ

PPL's work is now a Hybrid Model where 60% of the workweek is in the office or onsite at satellite locations. Our Hybrid Model refers to the split between working in the office (60%) and at home (40%) of the time. Over a 5-day work week, this equates to three days working in the office and the opportunity to work from home for the other two days.
