Sonic Foundry is looking for a self-motivated Communications Manager for its marketing team to produce high-quality content that engages customers and prospects and builds brand recognition. Reporting to the Director of Communications, main duties will include writing informative press releases, blog posts and articles, developing content for email marketing campaigns, conducting customer interviews and spearheading media relations to elevate Sonic Foundry’s brand, products and services. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator and writer, has a proven track record in media relations and highly organized.

  • Manage the company’s media relations.
  • Build and maintain media contacts to share the brand, products and services.
  • Develop and implement regular media pitches.
  • Prepare detailed media activity reports.
  • Produce high-quality targeted content including press releases, press kits, blog posts, case studies, articles, collateral and related marketing materials to drive growth in quality lead generation.
  • Help write email marketing campaigns.
  • Interview customers and create PR stories.
  • Find speaking and award opportunities.
  • Manage the company’s social media outlets.
  • Conduct marketing research.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of communication practice and techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to multitask
  • Strong understanding of social media and communication trends
  • Ability to work independently and with teams
  • Video creation and editing skills are a plus!
