The Communications, Media Relations, and Community Outreach Specialist will be responsible for helping create and promote the corporate identity and mission to customers, the public, and employees through the creation and distribution of brochures, news releases, and other documents,

This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Studio Relations.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Plans, prepares, and distributes original content such as articles, press releases, media advisories, email, blog and social media posts, and other updates on behalf of the organization;
  • Develops talking points and scripts for speaking and interview opportunities; Collaborates with marketing director to establish communication strategy and priorities;
  • Builds relationships with the media and is confident with regular outreach;
  • Coordinates interview opportunities and manages requests from the media;
  • Monitors media coverage and helps to create new story ideas;
  • Provides support with issues management and crisis situations
  • Ensures that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand;
  • Assesses community needs to identify, grow and execute opportunities that support Marcus Theatres’ brand, niche and diversity-marketing initiative;
  • Assists with event planning and execution, community outreach efforts and special projects such as Hollywood Movie Night, CineLatino and additional requests
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing & Studio Relations.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills by communicating clearly and effectively;
  • Demonstrates strong writing, editing and proofreading skills;
  • Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with the media and other partners; Must be detail-oriented;
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask;
  • Ability to plan and manage events;
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and open to additional assignments as needed;
  • Possesses strong project management skills;
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in marketing, publications, or a related field

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, and/or walk occasionally. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or a related field
