POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications Specialist will work on the Executive Communications team, as part of the Communications, Community and Associate Engagement team, to consistently deliver a variety of strategic communications experiences. This individual will be involved in a range of activities involving the company’s internal executive voice and additional internal communication deliverables to drive knowledge, connection and behavior that enables business performance and builds Ulta Beauty’s guest and associate-centric, values-based, high performance culture. This includes supporting the development of leadership messages for internal audiences, developing and managing intranet content, serving as a communications partner to functions across the corporate office,and supporting execution of Town Hall and large-scale leadership meetings and briefings for external events that require executive involvement.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic internal communications: Consistently and creatively deliver strategic executive and corporate communications to educate leaders and associates on Ulta Beauty mission, vision, values, cultural and talent roadmap and share important business updates through the lens of the company’s strategic imperatives. Includes drafting and editing leadership-driven messages, creating engaging presentations, supporting execution of large-scale leadership meetings, Town Hall meetings, video messages and podcasts, and serving as communication lead on a broad range of programs and projects.
  • Executive visibility: Continuously enhance CEO & senior executive visibility across the organization through variety of events, communication vehicles and experiences. Includes supporting execution of lunch and learns, supporting executive involvement in functional meetings, store and distribution center visits, assisting with CEO social media activity aimed to support internal messaging, and identifying ongoing opportunities for open and creative interactions and recognition.
  • Corporate office communications: Ensure professionalism and effectiveness in corporate office communications to elicit pride in being part of the larger Ulta Beauty team, and to help all experience the fun side of where they come to work. Includes intranet content development and management in partnership with functions across the business, management of office digital signage, and providing communication support for company milestones and associate special events.
  • Distribution Center communications: Provide ongoing communication support to distribution center audiences, including providing enterprise-level content for facility channels.
  • Community relations communications: Support communication for community relations strategy and programming that positively benefits our communities, creates brand awareness and engages associates. Includes communications for the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation and its partnerships with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Dress for Success and Save the Children as well as corporate charitable giving efforts and executive non-profit involvement.
  • CEO external presence: Provide research, briefing and event support for CEO non-profit, civic and industry involvement. Support expanding CEO social media presence.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, public relations or human resources or related field of study. 
  • 3-5 years of communications experience, preferably in a retail environment 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sense of urgency and follow-through 
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent collaboration skills 
  • Project management and time management are essential 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Graphic design experience or capability a plus 
  • Flexible, able to deal with ambiguity and change direction quickly 
  • Professional maturity to handle confidential information
