We have an opportunity for a remote Communications Specialist I on our Professional Satisfaction team. As a Communications Specialist I, responsible for supporting the planning, scheduling, and tracking of internal and external communications activities related to the Professional Satisfaction & Practice Sustainability (PS2) business unit, including strategically promoting PS2 efforts through AMA promotional channels, assisting in the development and distribution of PS2 content and resources, and editing and formatting PS2 internal and external-facing materials. This role will also track and help analyze data and heat maps to better understand the impact of our communication efforts and support the team in building new reporting strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications Planning

  • Assist with the development of measurable communications plans that align with business objectives
  • Work with Communications Manager to update communications plans and ensure they are timely and accurate
  • Maintain system of how we store all PS2 communications plans
  • Track plan execution in alignment with PS2 goals and objectives
  • Support the Communications Manager with improved communications planning processes using the project management tool Asana
  • Write and edit projects as needed

Marketing Support

  • Support event, resource, and publication promotions across all PS2 workstreams, including practice science research, content strategy, practice transformation, digital health, and practice sustainability
  • Draft and develop promotional blurbs and guides for various key audiences including physicians, health system leaders and others
  • Contribute to content development support for collateral materials, email campaigns and of all AMA STEPS Forward®social channels
  • Content manager for the bi-weekly PS2 Newsletter
  • Update the PS2 Data Repository 

Reporting and Dashboards 

  • Support the Communications Manager and other PS2 colleagues in development and maintenance of KPI reports, quarterly marketing reports, quarterly leadership reports, and dashboards to monitor performance against goals
  • Track and report PS2 digital metrics
  • Recommend opportunities for improvement based on data; turn data into information and insights to drive new content production
  • Assist in the data collection and reporting for the PS2 health equity workgroup and PS2 workstreams, and as required on behalf of PS2 for the AMA’s Center for Health Equity 

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s or graduate degree in journalism, English, public health or healthcare administration or related communications discipline required. 
  2. Minimum 1+ years of experience in content creation or communications. 
  3. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 
  4. Strong writing and copyediting skills. 
  5. Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and manage competing projects effectively; familiarity with Asana a plus.
  6. Ability to handle tight deadlines and maintain high standards of work. 
  7. Demonstrated sense of initiative and professionalism. 
  8. Analytic and problem-solving skills; demonstrated knowledge of using data to inform communications and marketing strategies and a thirst to continue to learn more.
  9. Commitment to teamwork with demonstrated ability to build relationships. 
  10. Demonstrated understanding of SharePoint, PowerPoint, Canva, and/or other presentation/design tools.
