We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago, IL for a Communications Specialist III on our Enterprise Communications team. The Communications Specialist III will develop and assist in the distribution of messages to AMA employees; supports the information flow to and from employees and strategies to engage employees through internal communications tactics. The right candidate will also assist in the distribution of a broad breadth of AMA internal communications content and develops and supports unique and engaging content, event sand projects. The Communication Specialist III will be responsible for tracking defined metrics to measure our efforts against our strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Written Content

  • Develop original written news stories that connect AMA’s internal content generators (AMA news, JAMA, social media, JOE, etc.) into one internal platform.
  • Develop, draft, compile, proofread, produce and publish the content for AMA’s digital newsletter, MyConnection according to the editorial content strategy.
  • Collect content via partnerships with AMAtoday content managers, HR partners and ECE/EC colleagues.
  • Partner with internal SMEs and the Director of ECE on special editions timed to key enterprise milestones.

Visual and other Content

  • Assist in producing multimedia storytelling elements for all internal channels: develop video and other multi-media content for the AMA’s intranet and digital workspace AMAtoday. 
  • Design, draft content for and manage the editorial calendar for the organization’s digital signage; troubleshoot digital signage.

Team and Event Support

  • Assist in planning and executing events including the all-employee meeting, Employee Appreciation Day and others. 
  • Help educate and activate AMA employees in using digital tools and platforms as part of the ongoing cultural/digital transformation of the organization. 
  • Support ESR and AMA’s employee ERGs in producing and posting their content to the site; support adoption of Yammer as an engagement tool. 
  • Support and consult on the implementation of special projects and events for employees.
  • Assist in tracking metrics to evaluate campaigns, events and products.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required in journalism, English, marketing or related discipline. Additional coursework and experience in digital media technolog ypreferred.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience journalism, public relations, marketing communications or related field required. Experience in a nonprofit, agency or corporation communicating to distinct audiences preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge of AP writing and/or AMA style.
  4. Proven ability to write in various forms including news writing, promotional writing, and opinion writing.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to develop relationships both internally and externally.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of using data to inform communications and marketing strategies.
  7. Strong focus on customer experience. Demonstrated understanding of how storytelling can effectively connect and engage an audience.
  8. Familiar with Web publishing: this includes an understanding of and an interest in learning more about the digital platforms on which we communicate. Manage the publication of audio and video on third-party platforms, internal workflow and presentation and discoverability.
  9. Ability to perform in a high visibility team environment, as well as be a strong individual contributor in a professional environment with quick turn-around. Manages competing projects effectively. Demonstrated sense of initiative and professionalism. High attention to detail across al lmediums of communication.
