The Wisconsin Conference UCC is seeking a Communications Specialist Lead to fill a half-time position that will drive the overall communications strategy and implementation for the Conference. The primary purpose of this position is to design and execute communications that increase awareness of and engagement with Wisconsin Conference UCC programs and resources. An understanding of how to deliver communications to support organizational mission and goals is key to this position, as is the ability to build awareness and engagement through communications tactics and messaging.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement, or direct implementation of, communication strategies and plans for Wisconsin Conference programs and services
  • Edit key conference communications content to ensure it achieves objectives
  • Work with content expert teams to edit and produce special focus newsletters
  • Create the messaging strategy for and produce the annual report
  • Consult with staff and teams as requested to recommend effective communication strategies and messaging
  • Expand use of storytelling and video to convey the Conference’s value
  • Provide guidance for the overall strategy and functionality of Conference newsletters, including contributing input for editorial content
  • Direct overall website strategy and structure, implement content updates and website revisions
  • Create or curate content for web, social media and other communications
  • Develop tactics to increase the reach of conference commun
  • Evaluate effectiveness of communications and use data to inform improvement actions Maintain knowledge of communications trends and technology, and incorporate enhancements as relevant 

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. We’re seeking a candidate who possesses a strong command of communications practices, methodologies and technologies who can effectively managing multiple concurrent initiatives. The ability to view opportunities and interrelationships with an organization-wide perspective is important, as is the ability to achieve goals working both independently and with teams. This position requires the incumbent to work in our DeForest, WI offices a minimum of 2 days per week.

The Wisconsin Conference UCC provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, vacation and sick leave, 403b retirement contribution and more.  The salary range is $25 to $30 per hour.
