Job Description Summary:

The Communication Specialist, Customer Operations supports the Customer Support department by working across and within the organization to gather and share information across the company, ensuring the workforce has access to critical communication, and stakeholders are fully informed. This role is a specialist in communications and provides copy, direction, and suggestions for how to effectively communicate. Alongside the many communication-related items this role owns, it also manages and regularly updates all communication channels.

This position requires a commitment to tailored communication and organizational learning, as well as the ability to understand the audience, communicate effectively, and to inspire and motivate team members to pay attention and act.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular updates on department happenings, pertinent information, substantial changes, and opportunities for collaboration. This includes communications related to specific initiatives and projects as well as ongoing, regular updates such as Opportunities at CORE, People on the Move, Updates You’ll Want to Know, CDP updates, etc. 
  • Act as a communications consultant, providing insights and suggestions for effective communications and processes. 
  • Meet with teams to identify upcoming communications and initiatives, and relay relevant information to stakeholders. 
  • Create communication campaigns and copy for department initiatives. 
  • Create content and manage department events such as the monthly Huddle, the semi-annual all hands meeting, and the semi-annual Town Hall meetings. 
  • Manage and update Department Intranet and other department specific Confluence items such as the Department Update page. 
  • Gather and send out regular topics and discussion items to teams to discuss in regular team meetings. 
  • Ensure important team updates are communicated externally in a timely fashion. 
  • Manage pulse surveys and provide regular updates to stakeholders of trends.
  • Work closely with Corporate Communications and HR to ensure that all-company communications are aligned with the departments processes and operations. 
  • Identify external award opportunities for each team and work with stakeholders to apply for awards. 
  • Manage the timing of communications, surveys, and initiatives to ensure efficacy and spread out the flow of communications and requests. 
  • Analyze data from all available sources and make adjustments to increase the effectiveness of current communications and communication methods. 
  • Other projects and assignments, as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree, required. Communications focus is preferred 
  • Minimum 2 years working in a corporate setting 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to tailor each communication to the audience 
  • Ability to organize, simplify, and relay information in a concise manner 
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and work effectively across departments and teams.
  • Experience in a customer service or support role interacting with customers and/or end users 
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail 
  • A self-starter who can operate independently, but also work successfully on a team 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite 
  • Can contribute valuable ideas or recommendations on overall improvements 
  • Strong presentation skills
