This team member creates employee communications content; participates in the planning and execution of employee communications programs within the organization; supports senior leaders on their internal communications and message alignment; and provides operational support to the broader function. The incumbent is familiar with the company’s processes, systems and methodologies. Decisions made by this position are less routine and with intermediate risk issues. Challenges include meeting expectations in delivering results, considering alternative courses of actions, making timely decisions, and continuing to build communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating content for employee communication channels; ensuring that messaging and branding are consistent across all channels. 
  • Supporting business leaders in the development of internal communication strategies, message alignment, and communications materials (presentations, SharePoint sites, etc.) 
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and leaders and advising on the suitability of approaches for communication efforts. 
  • Developing and distributing communications materials, such as written communications, presentation materials, etc. to deliver key messages. 
  • Tracking and analyzing metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communications.

The position generally owns several communications vehicles and manages several non-repeating projects, both internally and externally, through completion. Internal communication outlets utilized could include newsletters, intranet, videos/streaming media, employee meetings, presentations, correspondence, special events, news conferences, cascades, etc.

Key responsibilities include:

Content Creation

  • Actively contributes to editorial planning & execution and supports cascading of relevant business information, including researching and writing articles, planning meetings, and developing presentations 
  • Identifies the proper channels to reach target audiences 
  • Manages editorial projects through the entire lifecycle of an assignment, from planning through content creation and distribution to target audiences 
  • Supports on PPT presentation and intranet design

Communications Channel Management & Operations

  • Manages the department’s key internal channels, including newsletters, intranet and virtual event production 
  • Develops and executes plans for continuous improvement of communications channels 
  • Coordinates with enterprise communication partners to create a two-way flow of information 
  • Uses data to improve communications and makes recommendations on improvement opportunities. 
  • Provides communications support for annual HR and corporate events and processes (e.g. United Way, Excellence Awards, performance management, etc.)

Communications Business Partnership

  • Advises division leaders on messaging and communications planning and cross-division alignment 
  • Takes into account competing and changing priorities, resources, and time demands to produce plans that are realistic and achievable 
  • Manages corporate communications initiatives at the division level

Typical internal customers include various contacts throughout the enterprise.

The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Quality, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Office 365 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with proven experience in creating and delivering communications content across a variety of platforms, including newsletters, SharePoint sites, and presentations, and adjusting message by audience. 
  • Identifies, obtains, and organizes relevant data from multiple sources to generate recommendations for actions and continuous improvement 
  • Previous experience in editorial planning and execution/writing communications materials for a range of audiences and formats

Top Candidates will have:

  • College or university degree ideally in communications, public relations, journalism, or equivalent 
  • At least 1 year of job-related experience, preferably as a business unit or corporate communicator. 
  • Strong visual communications skills 
  • Past experience in a large multinational corporation 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of the department.
