The Communications Specialist will support membership and revenue growth through communications strategies and tactics, including design, print publications, storytelling, writing, editing, email marketing, production, and online and social communications that effectively communicate and translate the Girl Scouts’ value proposition and enhance and uphold its brand reputation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, and write compelling content for a variety of communications products across multiple platforms, including print, online, email, social, blog, event, and in-person communications tools. 
  • Serve as designer creating original, engaging, digital and print designs in alignment with GSRV and GSUSA branding and communications strategies. 
  • Serve as writer, editor, and proofreader; participate in community engagement on social media platforms; support the development and maintenance of the council website. 
  • Conduct independent research using council resources, documents, websites, and one-on-one interviews with staff, members, and volunteers to gather information needed for content development. 
  • Work closely with the Member Engagement and Communications teams to support communications, content strategy, and prospect and member engagement strategies; when appropriate, assist with crisis or other communication efforts.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree. Desired majors include communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, graphic design, or related field; or relevant work experience.
  • Preferred: Two years of professional work experience preferred.
