Hmong American Partnership (HAP) is a non-profit social service and community development organization located in the heart of St. Paul that serves more than 25,000 immigrants and refugees each year.

HAP is excited to hire an enthusiastic, positive, creative, and detail-oriented Communications Specialist to join our team to serve our Twin Cities community. As a Communications Specialist, you will take the lead in cross-functional coordination and development of communication and graphic design for internal and external communications, promotional materials, newsletters, and marketing campaigns from concept to final hand-off with minimal direction. This role will contribute to strategic planning and discover innovative ways to reach, communicate, and interact with current and potential clients and expand our service delivery scope.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and coordinate external and internal communication flow (internal memos, newsletters, staff announcements, etc.). 
  • Manage and oversee the production and distribution of regular and special publications (e.g., community and staff newsletters, brochures, handbooks, directories, annual reports, etc.). 
  • Create agency marketing and promotional materials for print. 
  • Coordinate external public-facing events including Staff Picnic Day, Hmong Resource Fair, International Day, Little Mekong Night Market, Hmong MN Day, and more.
  • Prepare public relations packets and media briefing materials as necessary for stakeholders, e.g., funders, partners, media, etc. 
  • Attend events and public community meetings to gather information for communication content.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in public relations, marketing, journalism, communications, or related field is preferred, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four (4) years. 
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in communications/marketing is preferred, to include content writing, multi-channel distribution, social media, and metrics. 
  • Previous project management and communications experience is strongly preferred.

  • Salary: $52,000 – $57,000; Depending on qualifications.
  • Hours/Days: Mon–Fri, 8:30 am–5:00 pm (evenings and weekends as needed)
