The Morgridge Institute invites applications for a full-time research communications specialist who will translate groundbreaking, curiosity-driven research discoveries into creative and compelling stories that capture the public’s imagination and broadly raise awareness of the Morgridge brand.

The professional in this role will collaborate with world-class scientists to develop stories in some of the most exciting frontiers in biology, while also helping amplify and promote the institute’s unique outreach mission that reaches tens of thousands of science enthusiasts young and old annually. The person in this role will be motivated to develop stories across multiple platforms and styles, such as news releases, videos, photo essays and longform features, and have strong everyday experience with social media channels. The position provides opportunities to interact with local and national media to amplify our best stories. The individual in this role will have a strong passion for biomedical research and understand the impact basic science makes on human health and society.

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as journalism, marketing, strategic communications, English, etc.; and at least three years of experience in a professional communications role. Strong writing skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize complex topics is required, as is a demonstrated understanding of how to use multimedia and social media to support strategic goals. Video and photography skills are highly welcomed, though not required. The position also requires functional knowledge of a variety of online software tools that help use design, organize, edit and distribute news and information.
