About this position:

This position is hybrid remote; mostly remote and must come into the office in Robbinsdale, MN for one day a week for meetings and as needed. Must have high speed internet at home to work remotely.

The Communications Specialist will play a key role in implementing internal and external communications strategies and providing guidance and support to leaders and team members across North Memorial Health. This role will lean on new and existing communications channels to engage team members in key organizational information, new initiatives and ensure they feel connected to North Memorial Health, informed about their work and aligned with the direction of our growing organization. While primarily focused on internal communications, this role will also elevate and protect the organization's reputation in the community and with our customers through assisting with proactive media relations efforts and supporting the team in crisis situations, as needed. Cross-functional exposure brings exciting opportunity to learn and grow through a wide breadth of communication experiences in this role. Healthcare is complex, but this role will streamline and simplify difficult subject matters through strong writing, storytelling and project management to align, strengthen and drive growth in our business.

What we’ll expect from you:

  • Seriously strong writing skills and a passion for seeking out insightful and engaging content and stories that can be shared across multiple channels. 
  • A drive for developing strategic content that impacts the knowledge and understanding of key projects, events or business changes. 
  • Pride in colorfully understanding and connecting with key stakeholders from across the organization to drive and inform key organizational initiatives and tactics. 
  • Management of a variety of communication tools to ensure key messages reach appropriate audiences (internal/external). 
  • A keen eye for detail when editing and proofreading copy and content for a variety of channels including newsletters, intranet, large-scale meetings, press releases, media statements and other written materials. 
  • Collaboration with other members of the team, providing communications support in crisis situations, as needed. Crisis communications training will be provided. 
  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving and implementing innovative solutions. 
  • Day-to-day management of internal email platform and intranet, including performance assessment and ongoing evolution of our approach to continually drive connected and engaging digital experiences for team members. 
  • Support for the development of measurable, results-driven communication programs and efforts that enhance team efficiency, productivity and effectiveness. 
  • Oversight of communication project plans and key milestones for projects that are integral in supporting the organization's business objectives. 
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to internal clients to determine communication needs and a strong partnership with key stakeholders to develop and implement internal communications plans. 
  • Strong partnership with Marketing, Customer Experience and outside partners to manage aligned communications, production of materials, etc. 
  • Ensuring compliance with brand identity standard for internal materials, through partnership with Marketing. 
  • Accepting other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

  • Protects customer and team member privacy and only accesses customer and/or team member related information as needed to perform job duties. 
  • Reports violations or areas of concern to supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer via established methods of communication.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Minimum of three years experience in internal, external or corporate communications required. 
  • Strong writing skills (AP style) and a passion for seeking out insightful and engaging content and stories. 
  • Demonstrated experience with digital content development and distribution, including email marketing tools and intranet platforms. 
  • Experience advising on communications approaches and building or supporting communications plans. 
  • Experience tracking communications metrics and conducting performance assessments to ensure measurable, results-driven communication programs. 
  • Project management experience with strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects concurrently. 
  • Ability to manage complex projects from planning to implementation.
