We’re looking for an ambitious and energetic Communications Specialist to join our team!

This is a full-time opportunity to be part of an innovative team building a refreshed brand identity for a 130-year-old firm in growth and evolution mode. We don’t have a traditional corporate title structure, but this position is Specialist-equivalent. Reporting to the head of Corporate Communications, you will assist with the day-to-day operations of Sargent & Lundy’s internal and external corporate communications strategy, ensuring the company’s messages are consistent, engaging, and on-brand.

Your main duties will include creating informative content for stakeholders across multiple internal and external digital communications channels. You’ll be at the center of launching our new intranet and ensuring it realizes our vision of facilitating collaboration and communicating strategic information. A core measure of success will be the degree to which the new intranet becomes our employees’ daily source for internal communications and news across our global network.

You’ll need the creativity and passion for writing and proofreading engaging copy and developing corresponding visual elements. You should be the type that thrives in adynamic, fast-paced environment with the ability to independently and proactively manage multiple projects. Duties will be diverse and multi-faceted, so you must be organized and attentive to detail. The role requires interaction with senior leadership, therefore excellent professional skills are vital. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must.

Responsibilities:

Communications Strategy, Writing, and Editing

  • Write, edit, proof, and distribute effective internal and external communications campaigns. 
  • Develop and implement internal communications content that inspires and drives employee engagement.
  • Provide advanced proofreading and editing support with an emphasis on AP Style (although we have an affinity for the Oxford comma). 
  • Review and edit communications drafted by key internal stakeholders and make recommendations to ensure messaging is consistent with core values and brand strategy. 
  • Develop and maintain clear and open communications with internal and external stakeholders to gather and validate information that is current, accurate, and conforming to organization policies and style requirements.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of digital content for the website, intranet, social media, email blasts, and e-newsletters. 
  • Support crisis communications planning and response activities.

Branding

  • Implement and maintain the company brand strategy, policies, and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate company branding, core values, and employee culture into communications content. 
  • Adhere to our style guidelines, ensuring the development of high-quality and error-free copy. 
  • Manage images and other digital assets for all branded corporate communications initiatives.

Website/Intranet

  • Develop material for our website and intranet while ensuring consistent, engaging, and fresh company messaging and images. 
  • Serve as the point of contact for the development and implementation of our intranet redesign initiative and content management transfer to a new SharePoint-based platform. 
  • Build and design intranet pages and SharePoint sites; coordinate strategic content across teams to drive platform adoption and facilitate employee collaboration and engagement. 
  • Work with our IT team and vendors to implement system changes and enhance user experience. 
  • Provide ongoing creative and technical support for the SharePoint-based intranet platform.
  • Continuously coordinate and support intranet content owners across the organization in the maintenance and updates of their intranet pages. 
  • Develop and review Google Analytics reports and SEO efforts. 
  • Leverage analytics and reports to determine effectiveness and seek continual improvements of communication initiatives.

Social Media

  • Develop material forour corporate LinkedIn page while ensuring a consistent, engaging, and fresh image.
  • Collect, develop, and post professional and relevant materials (original text, images, video, etc.) in a timely manner to encourage clients, prospective clients, and the community at large to build meaningful connections with us. 
  • Collaborate with numerous internal sources across business groups, functions, and regions to create and post approved content. 
  • Stay up to date and informed on social media tools, strategies, and best practices. 
  • Stylize images and other graphics to develop and enhance professional posts. 
  • Measure key performance indicators and promote efforts to increase engagement and community reach. 
  • Use analytic tools to track growth across social channels and manage regular reporting. 
  • Continually enhance Sargent & Lundy career opportunities on LinkedIn and our company website with multimedia posts and employee testimonials.

Responsibilities (continued):

Media Relations

  • Contribute to media relations strategy by assisting with media inquiries and writing press releases and media statements. 
  • Maintain and improve our media contact database and media monitoring capabilities. 
  • Support media outreach and public relations efforts, including developing fact sheets, leadership bios, and images for the media

Requiremeents:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or similar. 
  • Two of more years of experience in a similar role in a corporate environment or agency setting. 
  • Knowledge of communication practices and techniques as well as project management principles. 
  • Must have excellent business/creative writing and editing skills (writing samples will be requested from top candidates). 
  • Experience in website and intranet content development and familiarity with content management systems.
  • Experience in corporate social media management and knowledge of social analytics tools. 
  • Experience in media relations. 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with varying deadlines and priorities under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing priorities. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. 
  • Confident social skills and ability to interact with all levels of management and vendor partners. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. 
  • A resourceful problem solver with a solution-based approach to customer service. 
  • Basic creative design experience. 
  • Experience in website content production and design is a plus. 
  • Experience in photo editing software is a plus.
