The Communications Specialist will work in a collaborative environment with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator as well as with District administrators and school staff to strengthen and expand communication to internal and external audiences. This position will work from the District Office and is a full-time, 12-month position. The stating pay range is $45,000 to $55,000. Benefits package offered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Create high-quality communication for all District audiences through a variety of channels including email, website, social media, and print material. Ensure the Sheboygan Area School District (SASD) brand is represented in all communications.
  2. Produce a variety of creative content - including photos, videos, graphics, and written pieces - to connect and engage with diverse audiences.
  3. Train and support school-based website editors and assist in managing the District website and related databases. Collaborate with website editors to produce and ensure website content is current, relevant, and is consistent with the District brand.
  4. Execute a social media strategy to tell the District’s story in innovative and non-traditional ways, while monitoring and interacting with the online community.
  5. Maintain positive working relationships with principals, department leaders, school office staff, school website editors, and school social media managers, as well as positive engagement with all school staff.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications utilized in public relations and various media platforms. Possess strong writing and editing skills.
  2. Ability to translate strategic information into clear and concise messaging.
  3. An eye for design and the ability to create graphic content for social media and website.
  4. Knowledgeable in social networking platforms.
  5. Self-motivated and highly organized, with keen attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work an occasionally varied schedule (such as early mornings, nights, or weekends) to meet the demands of the position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
  • One to three years successful experience in communications, social media, public relations, or journalism.

The stating pay range is $45,000 to $55,000. An excellent benefits package offered.
